The overall goal of the project was to increase the efficiency of tissue converting lines, with special attention on reducing energy consumption and maintenance downtime. We focused on dust removal systems, which are one of the main source of energy consumption in tissue converting. We developed optimization algorithms that exploit the results of CFD analysis performed on the process, to support the determination of the best configuration parameters (shape, position, power) of the dust suction boxes designed in the project. Simulations results and experiments demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed solutions.
This project has been carried out in collaboration with Milltech, within the activities of the HIGHTISSUE project.
